Our Team

Our team of amazing early learning childcare educators at I Steam Ahead, Brookvale are like one big family and that’s exactly the environment we want to create. Children love spending time with us because they know they’re cared for and loved in a warm and welcoming environment.

MOIRA - Director

My husband and I are blessed with 3 children of our own who have completely enhanced our lives. So, the opportunity to work with you and your precious children is something I don’t take lightly.

My love for children led me on an everchanging journey in children’s education. It all began in 1998, with a Degree in Teaching Primary School Education.I believe my passion for surviving this ever-changing education path has been the ability to move with the educational changes and not to remain stagnant. Over the years I was exposed and challenged by the diversity of learning needs and accepted that every child learns at their own pace and needs a teacher as a facilitator to enhance individual learning needs.I’ve worked directly with children from an ESL and NESB as well as children who require special needs education programs and also became a Reading Recovery teacher.

This led me to learning environments embedded in literacy and saw other domains of education to not be given as much priority.

So I decided that … iSTEAM AHEAD

GLORIA - Assistant Director

Hi, my name is Gloria, I have been working in the early childhood sector for over 26 years and have completed my Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood at the University of New England. My extensive experience in the sector has seen me be a preschool teacher, educational Leader, assistant director and childcare director. As an educator I believe that children need to feel safe, secure and respected in an environment where they feel a sense of belonging. I’m dedicated to give children opportunities to develop their social, emotional and physical wellbeing. I strive to nurture in children a range of knowledge and skills in a happy and inviting environment with adults and peers who accept the “whole” child as a unique individual. I believe children learn best in a calm and nurturing environment, where they are free to explore endlessly and where educators are there to facilitate their growth and development.  I believe it is important to build strong relationships with families to gain a deep understanding about their child’s interests, family life, beliefs, culture, and traditions. When each child and their family are respected, embraced, and involved  we achieve a positive effect on a child’s overall growth and development.

HANNA

Hi, I'm Hanna. I recently joined the iSTEAM Ahead team as a trainee working towards my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. I used to be a tutor for students with learning difficulties and there I realized that I wanted to help children in different age groups. And I hope to do so with the STEAM program that we offer here at the childcare.

SHIELLA

Hi my name is Shiella from Philippines. I finished my Bachelor of Secondary Education way back 2009 in our country and passed the licensure examination for Teachers. I always loved children, so it seemed like a natural progression for me to pursue a career here in Australia which is Early Childhood Education. I finished my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care April 2021. I believe that children should have the structure and support to be whoever they want to be. This relies on the childcare educators who look after them in their early years as they attend the childcare. Learning is also a major concept of how children learn, including physical, cognitive, communication, social and emotional development. I am very enthusiastic and caring towards working with children and will ensure that all the love, care and security is shown to your children. I will aim to create trust-building relationships with all the children, to enhance the sense of belonging and well-being of each child, which in effect promotes the holistic growth of each child.
