Our team of amazing early learning childcare educators at I Steam Ahead, Brookvale are like one big family and that’s exactly the environment we want to create. Children love spending time with us because they know they’re cared for and loved in a warm and welcoming environment.
My husband and I are blessed with 3 children of our own who have completely enhanced our lives. So, the opportunity to work with you and your precious children is something I don’t take lightly.
My love for children led me on an everchanging journey in children’s education. It all began in 1998, with a Degree in Teaching Primary School Education.
I believe my passion for surviving this ever-changing education path has been the ability to move with the educational changes and not to remain stagnant.
Over the years I was exposed and challenged by the diversity of learning needs and accepted that every child learns at their own pace and needs a teacher as a facilitator to enhance individual learning needs.I’ve worked directly with children from an ESL and NESB as well as children who require special needs education programs and also became a Reading Recovery teacher.
This led me to learning environments embeded in literacy and saw other domains of education to not be given as much priority.
So I decided that … I STEAM AHEAD
Hi, my name is Gloria, I have been working in the early childhood sector for over 26 years and have completed my Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood at the University of New England. My extensive experience in the sector has seen me be a preschool teacher, educational Leader, assistant director and childcare director.
As an educator I believe that children need to feel safe, secure and respected in an environment where they feel a sense of belonging. I’m dedicated to give children opportunities to develop their social, emotional and physical wellbeing. I strive to nurture in children a range of knowledge and skills in a happy and inviting environment with adults and peers who accept the “whole” child as a unique individual. I believe children learn best in a calm and nurturing environment, where they are free to explore endlessly and where educators are there to facilitate their growth and development.
I believe it is important to build strong relationships with families to gain a deep understanding about their child’s interests, family life, beliefs, culture, and traditions. When each child and their family are respected, embraced, and involved we achieve a positive effect on a child’s overall growth and development.
Hi, my name is Lesley, after many years of working in both the school and early childhood field, I joined I STEAM Ahead as they are a family run centre committed to supporting the local community. I feel honoured to be part of
this team giving children a safe haven of child centred activities, in small groups, with dedicated colleagues.
I am 26 years old and originally from Sweden. I moved to Sydney 3 years ago. My ideal job has always been working with children. I have 5 years of experience working in childcare in Sweden and Norway.
I am currently studying a diploma in childcare. I would describe myself as a caring and enthusiastic person with a passion for being out in nature and spending time with loved ones. I am really looking forward to spending time getting to know your children and assisting them in creating new fun experiences and learning new skills!
I am currently studying early childhood teaching for children aged 0-12 at Western Sydney university. My course enables me to gain an in depth understanding of how exactly to nurture, strengthen and enhance the developing brains of children.
My passion is to do exactly that and ensure children are learning the fundamentals for their growing brains all while having fun at the same time! Being apart of the ISTEAM ahead team is exciting because they share the same values for teaching and caring for children as I do.
Hi, My name is Brenda, I’m from Brazil and I have been living in Australia for the past 3 years. Since I moved here I have been working with children and when I started my Certificate III I got fascinated about how educators can support and help children to develop their cognitive, social, emotional, language and physical skills.
I have just completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and I believe in the importance of connecting with children, promoting a safe and nurturing environment where they can explore, play and grow, becoming active contributors to their world.
Hi, I’m Rhian, I hold a Certificate 3 in early childhood education and care. I have been working in childcare a couple years now. I love working with children assisting them with unlocking their minds by providing a Steam learning environment. Helping your child reach their goals, developmental milestones and EYLF outcomes through fun play based steam learning is what I steam ahead is all about.
Hi my name is Shiella.I am currently studying my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, and hope to be finished next year April2021. I believe that children should have the structure and support to be whoever they want to be. This relies on the childcare educators who look after them in their early years as they attend the childcare. Learning is also a major concept of how children learn, including physical, cognitive, communication, social and emotional development.
I am very enthusiastic and caring towards working with children and will ensure that all the love, care and security is shown to your children. I will aim to create trust-building relationships with all the children, to enhance the sense of belonging and well-being of each child, which in effect promotes the holistic growth of each child.
